The Meat Cow
2006-2008

I sculpted a miniature sized cow out of newspaper and I paper mached it
for my off-loom fibers class at Tyler. The textures on the surface of the
cow are inspired by the techniques I learned in class. The cow is divided
into sections and painted red to reflect my views on meat industry and the
unnecessary slaughtering of cows in this country. The body is red to
represent meat, and the utters are white to represent milk. The face and
tail are covered in sequins as if to say, "The inner cow will shine through
no matter what slaughter line it is waiting in."

The photo above was taken in 2006. The photos below are the NEW and
IMPROVED Meat Cow taken in 2009.
